Monkeys and their appearances

There are many kinds of monkeys on earth; each has its own distinct appearance. Appearance of some of the monkeys which exists have described here.

Rhesus Macaque is among the best known variety of old world monkeys. Its presence starts from Afghanistan and spreads through northern India and south china. Rhesus Macaques male adult measure 53 centimeters approximately on an average and has the average weight of 7.7 kilograms.


The Cottontop Tamari or Saguinus Oedipus is a little New World monkey which weighs less than 11b (0.5 kg). These species are generally found in edges of tropical forest and secondary forests. These endangered species has white hairs beginning from forehead extends up to nape, flows through the shoulders and has a long crest.

The backside is brownish while the arms, legs and under parts are whitish-yellow.

Inner thighs and rump are reddish-orange.

The Howler monkeys are characterized with round nostrils, short snout. Their size ranges from 56 to 92 cm, which is exclusive of their tail which can also equally be long. They have prehensile tails like their new world monkeys counterparts. Both female and male howler monkeys are characterized with trichromatic vision color which is not a general feature in other new world monkeys.

The Lar Gibbon monkeys have their fur coloring in black which may also vary from dark-brown to sandy colors. The feet and hands are whitish in color; also a circle of white colored hair surrounds its black face. The female and male monkeys can have difference in colors, but their size hardly varies. They are characterized with no tail and long hands.
